Did you know that cats are okay without having their nails trimmed? Cats in the wild use their nails for hunting/climbing/etc and are okay without having them trimmed regularly in captivity. They are most commonly trimmed to keep the nails shorter and keep them from being sharp for owners.

Dogs on the other hand need their nails trimmed regularly as they will keep growing. If they are not trimmed, it can result in discomfort walking and the nail can turn to grow back into their paw.
